A number of ministers in the Red and White Cabinet gathered at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the situation of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The meeting was convened following a directive from Prabowo for ministers to find solutions to help the affected workers. Among those present were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo underlined the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the importance of resolving the issues faced by PT Sritex since its bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working scheme in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the efforts made by the curator to potentially rehire former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s pledge to offer support and guidance is anticipated to bring relief to PT Sritex employees impacted by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, which will subsequently facilitate the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This initiative aims to provide stability for the affected employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
