President Prabowo Subianto is optimistic about Indonesia’s ability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, positioning the country as a trailblazer in this milestone. During a virtual conference focusing on renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s competence in energy generation and streamlining logistics. He emphasized the vital role of energy independence in national sovereignty and outlined the government’s plan to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to ensure clean, reliable, and efficient energy distribution throughout the archipelago.
Furthermore, Prabowo praised the collaborative efforts of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for their contributions to Indonesia’s energy transition. Despite acknowledging the country’s substantial oil and gas reserves, he stressed the significance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in achieving energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide. Expressing hope for Indonesia’s future, Prabowo highlighted solar energy as a beacon of progress for various regions, including villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By harnessing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.
