President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the lives of the underprivileged through various flagship initiatives that not only address immediate needs but also create a pathway for future generations to escape poverty. The goal is to restore dignity to those living in poverty and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty through programs like Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG. These initiatives aim to disrupt the pattern where children born into poverty inherit their parents’ economic struggles, emphasizing education as the key to change.
The government, under President Prabowo’s leadership, is focusing on eradicating poverty by setting ambitious targets to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. This national development agenda will be pursued through social intervention and community empowerment programs to ensure the poor benefit from these initiatives as soon as possible.
A three-pronged strategy, including the People’s School initiative, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools, is being implemented to combat poverty. The health-focused CKG program has already reached millions of Indonesians and aims to reach even more by the end of the year. Additionally, the Red-and-White Village Cooperatives aim to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and empower rural and urban communities.
President Prabowo is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program, with a goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide on July 21, 2025. These cooperatives serve as a model for village empowerment, enabling communities to meet their needs and generate livelihoods through their own strength. The administration is confident that with mass implementation, these initiatives will successfully combat poverty and create a better future for all Indonesians.
