President Prabowo Subianto has set an ambitious target to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children across Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative is considered a national priority and a matter of urgency. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Prabowo shared a moving account of his visit to Central Java, where the demand for the program was evident.
While traveling from Solo to Klaten, Prabowo witnessed schoolchildren, teachers, and residents eagerly waiting for the nutritious meals. Touched by this experience, he instructed his team to accelerate the program implementation, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August. With the ultimate goal of reaching 82.9 million children by December 2025, Prabowo emphasized the importance of proper training for kitchen staff and resource management.
The efforts of the Free Nutritious Meal Program have garnered global attention, with other countries observing Indonesia’s progress closely. Prabowo highlighted the urgency of addressing child hunger, malnutrition, and learning disparities to ensure every child has the necessary sustenance to thrive. While expressing optimism for the program’s success, he also stressed the importance of delivering tangible results to uphold accountability.
Prabowo’s vision for the Free Nutritious Meal Program reflects his commitment to bridging gaps in child welfare and education, emphasizing equal opportunities for all children to access essential nutrition for their growth and development.
