The Free Health Check (CKG) program is described by Senior Expert Hariqo Wibawa Satria from the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) as the initial step towards a healthier nation. This program aims to change people’s mindset about prioritizing their well-being, making health a lifelong priority. With each Independence Day celebration on August 17, Hariqo hopes to see more Indonesians liberated from illness. President Prabowo’s administration has implemented various priority programs like CKG, the “Stop TB” campaign, revamping regional public hospitals, and providing special allowances for medical specialists in remote areas. Despite Indonesia celebrating its 80th year of independence, the country still faces challenges from diseases that affect its productivity and GDP. Investing in health is not just a social expense but also a strategic economic asset, as proven by the impact of illness on productivity and economic losses from conditions like smoking and obesity. CKG is crucial not only for preventive measures but also for educating the public on health matters. The goal is for Indonesia to have a healthier population free from illness, resulting in increased national development and economic growth. Improved public health can boost life expectancy, enhance human resource productivity, and contribute significantly to GDP. Studies suggest that a sharp drop in illness rates could lead to a 1–2 percent annual growth in GDP.
