Indonesia Provides Aid to Gaza on 80th Independence Day

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, the Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force successfully completed a humanitarian aid mission to Gaza Strip, Palestine, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence. This mission was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Defense, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the National Alms Agency (Baznas). Two Indonesian Air Force C-130J Super Hercules aircraft took off from King Abdullah II Air Base in Amman, Jordan, at 10:37 a.m. local time (2:37 p.m. Jakarta time), conducting an airdrop of aid supplies over Gaza before safely returning to the forward operating base at 12:25 p.m. local time (4:25 p.m. Jakarta time). According to Colonel Pilot Puguh Yulianto, Commander of the Garuda Merah Putih-II Task Force, the mission was carried out smoothly without major obstacles.

The aid packages comprised essential supplies for Gaza residents, including staple foods, ready-to-eat meals, medical equipment, blankets, and items tailored for children. This mission was executed under President Prabowo Subianto’s direct orders as part of Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to international humanitarian solidarity. The successful completion of this mission on the nation’s independence anniversary was celebrated as a moment of national pride, highlighting Indonesia’s active participation on the global stage and its contributions to global peace. Yulianto emphasized that this achievement signifies a historic milestone and a special gift for Indonesia’s Independence Day.
