Progress continues at the Oscar y Juan Galvez Racetrack in Buenos Aires, with construction work happening every day and a large team dedicated to revitalizing the historic circuit. The renovation is aimed at bringing the track back to the forefront of international motorsports. Under the supervision of the City of Buenos Aires government, construction company AUSA and Tilke Engineers & Architects are working together to redesign the racetrack. The project began in January with the demolition of the old pit building and is progressing swiftly.
Recently, MotoGP officials visited the site and expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far. The new pit building is well underway, and construction is ongoing on the track itself. The track will feature challenging turns and high-speed sections, making it suitable for MotoGP races. The motorcycles are expected to reach speeds exceeding 330km/h, providing an exhilarating racing experience.
While work on the MotoGP track is progressing smoothly, there are also plans to potentially host Formula 1 races at the circuit. The requirements for MotoGP and F1 align to a large extent, making it feasible to host both types of races. The extension of the track and the pit building are already in the planning stages. The upcoming demo run by Franco Colapinto in April will showcase the potential of hosting major races in Buenos Aires.
Overall, the construction at the Oscar y Juan Galvez Racetrack is on track to be completed by December. The goal is to have the circuit ready to host MotoGP races next year, with a long-term vision of bringing Formula 1 back to the Argentine capital. The project promises exciting racing events and a resurgence of motorsport in Buenos Aires.
